I am 39 years old and live in Barstow, Ca. I am married to Samantha Coffee and I have a 13 year old daughter named Angel. We have only been into prospecting about a month or so and we love it.

cool I became interested in prospecting after watching a gold prospecting show on late night tv.  I looked in the phone book the next day for a gold prospecting store and was directed to Stapp Mining in San Bernardino CA. The owner Dee Stapp painted a big picture of how fun it was to go camping and prospecting and gave me an invation to come to a VP meeting. At the meeting the club invited me to one of their outings. They told me I could come to 3 outings prior to joining and that's what I did. Finding gold in the desert was quite different than what I saw on tv, as they were using an unusual contracpation called a dry washer. I joined around 1989 or 1990 and after a couple of years I got more involved with the club. I did lady luck, wagon master, club apparel , editor and was elected as a member at large. I was president 2004 and 2008. Finding gold is a perk but the real gold is the people you meet and the friends you make.

I am new to prospecting, but have the fever "VERY BAD". I have a drywasher now and plan on getting a sluice soon (never know when I might need one). If I'm not out prospecting, I'm panning concentrates, if I'm not panning, I'm thinking of the next place to go prospecting, can't seem to think of much else.

I am also a member of the G.P.A.A., but am more interested in the club experience and meeting other prospectors and their families. I have already met several of the members of Valley Prospectors and it seems to be true that prospectors are the friendlest people you will ever meet. If I haven't met you yet, I hope to soon.

I am married with a very understanding wife, she is not interested in prospecting (yet). I am retired due to some health issues. I was a avid fisherman, until I started prospecting, now all I seem to do is want to fish for gold. We have a 5th wheel and enjoy camping as much as possible. I hope my wife will come to some outings with me and enjoy, at least, the camping and meeting some new friends.

The Lord has blessed me with a new hobby and I am looking forward to the new friends I will met.
