Hello Kevin,

Awesome! finally saw your first "yellow gold"! It is very exciting, it hasn't been that long ago that I was blessed with panning my first gold too. I still thank the Lord everytime I see it!

I have had the same problem with the G.P.A.A. claims also. I was up in Holcomb Valley last week looking around and went by the Gold Mt. claim (G.P.A.A.) and it looks like artillery practice has been going on. Someone has been mining it pretty hard, don't know if they are finding anything, but they have some big holes. I have been going to Summit regularly and do pretty good myself. Never been "skunked" there!

I'm going hiking this weekend, but hopefully soon we can go mining together. Armando will be back from Texas soon and maybe we can get Jesse up there too. It would be cool to meet you guys in person. I'm going to do my best to go to meeting tonight, I just have alot going on preparing for my hiking trip. I hope to meet you tonight. I'll keep a eye out for you.

Hello Everyone - Hope all is well and hope everyone is finding some "Color"

Hey Dave & Jesse, sorry about not being to meet up with you guys in the last couple of weeks, but I have been a little busy with some family matters that needed to be attended to. Now that they are taken care of,  hopefully I'll be able to run into you guys soon. Just a FYI, I was able to make it up to the Summit claim just right after I joined VPI last month and "OMG" what a supprise.  On my first day on the claim I brought home some concentrates and after some initial panning.  I was blessed with several small flakes of Real Yellow Gold. I can't tell you how excited I was.  I have been prospected a couple of GPAA claims over the last six months and was "sknuked " everytime.  I actually am starting to believe that GPAA claims are dry runs   I am so happy to actually finally find some real "Gold" for the first time.  I planing on going up to the Hungryman I, II, III, & IV claims on Friday to try my luck with sluicing if the creeks are still running. Question - Has anyone recently been up ther and if so, could you please provide me with any pointers about the general area of the claims i.e. what equipment is best suited for that enviorment and is there anything I especially should be on the lookout for, would greatly appriciate and feedback.  Also, I hoping to attend this Thursdays monthly meeting (My First) and looking forward to meeting

with all my fellow VPI Members.

Everyone Take Care & God Bless this Country.....

Hey Jesse, I was looking for you this weekend (Sat.). up at Holcomb Valley. I stoped and bought a little hand operated puffer for $50 on the way up. Didn't get up there until 12:30. Looked for a white pilot on Miners Folly and Indian Gluch, didn't see one. At least if I had run across you it would have been a productive day. Got "skunked" on Indian Gluch, that sucked! First time I've ever gotten skunked, I guess I need someone with some local knowlede to show me the area. I went up to Summit yesterday just to give my self a confidence builder after Sat. Panned out the cons today and did alright, I'm going back tomorrow also.

Wish I was going on the outing this weekend but already have plans. You can get up to Big Bear by going up Hwy. 38 through Yucaipa or Mentone.

Sorry I missed you Sat. maybe some other time.

Hello Everyone

I was up at the Miner's Folly claim this weekend. I spent about 2 hours trying to find either the Indian Gulch or Jackass claims. I found the Jackass claim, but the gate before it was locked!

I just ended up going to the Miner's Folly, it was sprinkleing up there too. I did notice However that the 18 will be closed for 5 days starting yesterday at 10 pm... what does this mean for the Big Bear claim outing coming up?

I would like someone to maybe please give me better directions to the Indian Gulch claim ..

Everyone take care

Jesse

Hello Gary, I met some guys on the Crystal Group claim last Sunday from G.P.A.A.. They were very interested in joining our club. I wanted to invite them to the outing next weekend to meet some of the club members. I can't make it myself, I already have plans. Is there anyone you know that is going, so I can at least give them a name of someone to look for if they go? They are all new to prospecting and don't have any gear. I let them use my drywasher for a couple of hours to see how it works last week. I just don't want to tell them to show up and maybe someone will help them out. If you can get me a name or two I would at least feel more comfortable with inviting these prospective members. thanks for your help.

I was up on the Summit claim today and what a mess! Looks like some target shooters shot up a phone book or catalog. Small pieces of paper and trash everywhere. No respect! Going to take a couple of trash bags and a hour or so to clean it up. I'll work on it somemore next time, but could use some help if anyone else is up there.

I also found a creves tool if anyone left theirs there.

Jesse, I looked for, but didn't find your missing rock hammer. Sorry brother.

Hello.

I was maybe planning on going up to the either Indian Gulch or Miner's Folly claims this weekend to camp. If anyone is interested in going up, I wouldn't mind the company. I feel as if I need some guidance. I went up to the Cajon Pass and ran into Rick who was nice enough to tell me about the claim ( and that I need a different detector too ! ) By the way, if anyone finds a 20oz. Kobalt rock hammer at the Cajon pass claim, I lost mine =(

Please feel free to email me at m_mana_m@hotmail.com

Hey Jesse, I haven't heard any word from Kevin. So are you still going to Jackass this weekend? I've been wanting to go up there someday soon, but was hoping to get some inside info from someone, or tag along with someone with some mountain claim experience. I am some what familiar with the Holcomb Valley area. I am also a member of G.P.A.A. and have been to their claims in the same area. It all just looked like mountains. Nothing to give me any indication of what was a good place to dig. I would love to go the the outing at the end of the month up there, but I'm hiking Mt. Whitney Aug. 2nd. and Aug. 30th. can't make either outing. Maybe Armando will be able to go and give me the low down.

My grandson and I went to the Summit claim Thursday. Panned out cons today and we did alright, we got some color. I'll probably will go back Sunday morning. If your interested, email me at tyjihike@yahoo.com and I'll send you my phone number to set something up. If not some other time. The offer still stands.

Hope to hear from you soon.

Hello Dave.

Thank you for welcoming me to the club.

I'm not sure if I would be able to meet up this weekend, I might be going up to the Jackass claims ( at least try to )  If I do not end up going to the claims, I would love to go with you and Kevin to the summit claims. I was going to try to build my own drywasher,  But I would want a backpack aluminum type one. Anyhow , I hope to meet you real soon my friend.

Hey Jesse, welcome to the club! I got a text from Armando a few days ago telling me you was new to the club and wanting to go prospecting. I just got back from camping today and will be back digging in a few days. Still have to get my 5th wheel cleaned up and back to storage, but then it's time to go! Kevin, another new member is also interested in going. I'm not sure when, but maybe Friday or this weekend or both. I'll have to see when my wife cuts me loose. I'd be more than happy to take either one of you, or both, or anyone else, to see what's it like and to see how a drywasher works. The only claim I'm familiar with is the Summit claim, but I always get something.

I'll write back as soon as I can confirm what days I can go. Hope to hear from you soon.
